"Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?"

The Franklin Public Schools Board of Education will be participating in this year's 4th of July parade and the Civic Celebration.  The board will be hosting the game "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?"

If you want to test your wits against some of Franklin's finest 5th graders, please join the Franklin Public Schools Board of Education representatives at the Franklin Civic Celebration on July 3 from 5:00-6:30 pm, and July 4 from 2:00-4:00 pm.  If you are not interested in competing, you can still come to watch as some of the city's finest police and fire fighters face off for the first challenge on July 4.

Have a happy and safe 4th of July!

Safety Warning

Today, the Franklin Police Department contacted the Franklin Public School District and informed us that on Friday, June 27 there was an Attempted Child Enticement that occurred without consent at approximately 7:45 a.m. near 68th Street and Kimberly Court.

The incident is still under investigation, however, the Franklin Public School District encourages you to warn your children about this situation.  For the safety of your children, the staff at Ben Franklin Elementary School and Forest Park Middle School are outside of the buildings both during drop off and pick-up times.  The bus company has been notified and the bus drivers, who always watch for suspicious behavior, will be watching more closely as students board and leave the buses.

2008/09 Budget

The Franklin Public Schools Board of Education and the Director of Business Services would like to share the first draft of the 2008/09 budget.  This was presented to the board and the public on Wednesday, June 4 at a Committee of the Whole meeting.  If you have any questions or comments about the proposed budget, please call  Jim Milzer at 414-529-8220.

Transportation Forms Needed

The Franklin Public School District is requesting that all parents fill out this form for student transportation needs in the 2008/09 school year.  We are required by State Statutes to provide transportation for every student, but if your child will not be utilizing this service we can save money as a district by reducing the number of busses used and apply that toward other educational programs. If you have any questions, please contact Mary Jo Herrmann, Auxiliary Services Coordinator at 414-525-7634.
